Description
The leading Slovenian institution for comprehensive medical rehabilitation. Multidisciplinary teams (physiatrist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech-language pathologists, psychologists) perform diagnostics, intensive rehabilitation, and long-term follow-up of individuals following brain and spinal cord injuries, strokes, amputations, orthopedic surgeries, pain due to musculoskeletal conditions, and in the pediatric population.
The institution is a leading laboratory for the implementation of advanced technologies in rehabilitation practice:
– robotics for gait and upper limb rehabilitation (Lokomat, Armeo, exoskeletons)
– VR/AR therapies and asynchronous training
– wearable sensors for monitoring movement and activity
– digital tools for objectifying outcomes and assessing progress
– tele-rehabilitation and digital support for patients at a distance
URI – Soča regularly participates in national and European projects (Horizon Europe, Interreg, EIT Health) and provides a clinical testing environment for the validation of medical devices, digital solutions, and AI-supported tools. In doing so, it contributes to the development of new technologies that improve the effectiveness of therapies and patient independence.
